Now Available! Exogenetic

Exogenetic: Book 2 of the Cerenovo Series is now available, exclusively on Amazon.com, to include Kindle Unlimited.

The world believes the botnet virus to be destroyed; Ridley Pierce is less certain. In a lonely chat-room, he meets Beta, who claims who to have evolved from the intelligence. At the same time, Diane Kingsolver is haunted by the knowledge that her infant daughter’s autism is the result of genetic engineering. She vows to find out who introduced the gene into the population. Neither realizes that powerful forces want to stop them before the true cause of the Great Collapse comes to light.

Now Available! EMERGENT

Book 1 of the Cerenovo Series -- EMERGENT -- is now available for purchase or for Kindle Unlimited. Only on Amazon!

An AI immobilizes the world's computers on the same day that a genetically-modified influenza virus begins killing millions.

At his new job with a Seattle biotech company, Ridley Pierce refuses to use artificial intelligence to code software for synthetic organs. Fuzzy calculations, sweeping assumptions, and infinite loops can kill. What he doesn’t know is that an AI is already in control.

When a deadly influenza virus begins sweeping through the world’s population, this emergent program paralyzes the world’s computers and everything that relies upon them. As the robots and drones of industry come to a standstill, starvation looms. Can Ridley rescue the digital world before society itself collapses? Or, has the Information Age already been lost to history?

The past and the future

Most of you know me as a writer of historic fiction. In 2018, I will truly look to the future. The Cerenovo Series, currently under final revision, is set in the broken remains of Seattle, Washington. The series follows a brilliant but aloof young software engineer named Ridley Pierce. The first volume begins as two viruses sweep the world -- one biological and one digital.  Ridley manages to survive the "Great Collapse" through a combination of sheer willpower and technological prowess. In volume two, Ridley's growing fortune and technological innovation inadvertently set up  the first war between the living and the dead. The trilogy concludes with a journey into the deepest recesses of the universe.

Look for the first volume, Emergence, in late Spring.

Now Available - "The Wasted Grave"

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019NGAHOU/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B019NGAHOU&linkCode=as2&tag=aladir-20&linkId=ZQ7QPK2UB3RURWKCThe wait is finally over! The Wasted Grave is now available for Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, or in print.

In this sequel to The Winter Calf, Charles Funkhauser rushes to Maple Gap when he reads that Iris Littleton has nearly drowned in a flood - and that a boy who may been his son is lost.

The Wasted Grave changed greatly from what I had originally intended. Midway through writing the sequel, I realized that I had two two separate novels - one occurring just after Elias' disappearance and a second occurring several years after the conclusion of The Winter Calf.  I am still drafting this third novel, which involves Jerome meeting his grandfather, and hope to complete it by early Autumn.

My "Maple Gap" Pinterest Board

A writer friend of mine noted how valuable Pinterest was for coming up with ideas, locales, and people for her novels.  I tried it - and have created a "Maple Gap" board based upon the settings and characters in "The Winter Calf".  It has already inspired some great ideas for the sequel - a story about Charles Funkhauser - that I am completing now.

The board can be found here: https://www.pinterest.com/michaelnuckols/inspiration-for-the-maple-gap-series-of-books/

Many thanks to my readers who have written words of encouragement to continue this series.  I  am more excited than ever about the sequels (Yes - two books are in the works with a third outlined!).
